About Ananatural Production

Contortion, collapsibility and modes of idea production: this is the focus of my investigations, both as conceptual theme and artistic operation. Delineating the conditions of possibility of contortion and collapsibility means addressing issues of materiality and production as well as the daily practice, discipline and conditioning of the mind. In the increasingly dematerialized service economy that we live in, the focus has shifted from the industrial production of objects to the industrial production of ideas. It is unclear, however, whether the laws of supply and demand still apply. The artist / human being as a Stakhanovist production center spun out of control? A manic idea machine clinging onto the paradoxical models of industrial production and the pleasure principle? A final question that fascinates me has to do with the specific kinds of mental flexibility, on an individual level, that would allow for the vertiginous and emancipatory effects of limitless idea production.

My current projects map out the "product life cycle" of the idea: its initial, instiinctive formation; its patterns of marketing and circulation; and, not to be forgotten, its manners of perception, reception and consumption by its various audiences. These projects are also strongly performative, as I feel the presence of the body in the here and now is an essential stake in the contemporary imaginary and social debate.
